The Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Branch, (C.I.B.), is comprised of Criminal Investigators supervised by two Senior Criminal Investigators. The C.I.B. is a specialized branch, which fulfills the special investigative needs for felony and major case investigations. Investigators also receive hours of training in many different aspects of criminal investigations. This training includes, but is not limited to major case investigation, homicide and death investigation, advanced accident investigation, hostage negotiation, fire investigation, crime scene photography, interview and interrogation, sexual assault investigations, missing children and counter terrorism. C.I.B. also has special training in computer crimes and forensics.
Sheriff's Criminal Investigators are part of the Columbia County Child Advocacy Centers multi-disciplinary Teams, Welfare Fraud Task Force and Zone 14 Counter Terrorism Committee.
Senior Investigator Reagan Anderson supervises major, high profile and unusual incident criminal investigations including homicide, robbery, vice crimes, arson, assault and burglary. Investigators and Deputy Sheriff's also conduct informational lectures on subjects such as Internet Safety, Identity Theft and Scams when requested.
Sr. Inv. Anderson also supervises the Sex Offender Registry reporting requirements for offenders who reside in areas of Columbia County that do not have a local police department. He also conducts and supervises internal affairs investigations for the Sheriff's Office and other county agencies, Public Integrity Investigations and Drug Education and Enforcement.
The Special Victims Unit which is assigned to investigate reported sex offenses and elder abuse within Columbia County, specifically works with Columbia County Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services. He oversees the Welfare Fraud Investigation Unit which works with Columbia County Department of Social Services to prevent welfare misuse.
