The Columbia County Sheriff's Office does Live Scan fingerprinting permitted by the New York
State Division of Criminal Justice Services. This includes only pistol license applications
and Sheriff's Office employee applicants. Any other live scan fingerprints must be done at a
location as directed by the company or agency you are being printed for.
Anyone who is issued an ink fingerprint card can have ink impressions done at the Sheriff's
Office on Thursdays between the hours of 7:00AM and 6:00PM. No appointment is necessary.
Persons to be fingerprinted must have a valid photo identification at the time they are fingerprinted.
Additionally, at the Public Safety Facility on the 1st Saturday of each month between the hours of
10:00AM and 2:00PM, Operation SAFE CHILD information/ID cards for children with the child's
photo and fingerprint may be obtained by a parent or guardian. There is no fee for the SAFE
CHILD program and no appointment is needed during this period. After entering the lobby of the
Public Safety Building please ask about Operation SAFE CHILD at the Corrections window.
The Operation SAFE CHILD Program will also be provided at the Columbia County Fair in Chatham
and various other community days and events that the Sheriff's Command Vehicle attends,

Notice: As authorized by the Columbia County Board of Supervisors Resolution # 103-2007, effective August 1, 2007, there will be a fee of $5 for each person fingerprinted, (this does not include Pistol/Dealer License applicants and SAFE CHILD informational cards).
