The Sheriff's Communication Branch is responsible for handling a variety of communication services.  The Communications Center is staffed 24 hours a day by full time and part time Communications Officers, as well as Deputy Sheriff's when needed.  The Center, which is in the same section of the Public Safety Facility as the County 911 Center, is supervised by
Sheriff's Officer Sergeant Peter Grzeskow.

In addition to the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Division, the Center provides police communication services for the Chatham, Copake, Germantown, Greenport, Philmont and Stockport Police Departments.

The Center can communicate with and provide periodic information and communication services for state and federal agencies including the New York State Environmental Conservation Police, NYS Division of Parole, Columbia County Probation, NYS Park Police and several Berkshire County Massachusetts police agencies.

In 2020 the Center fielded 2 million-radio messages, 150,000 telephone calls and dispatched over 16,000 calls for service.

The Center also handles after-hour emergency dispatching of the Columbia County Department of Social Services, Mental Health paging services and the New York State Department of Transportation.
