CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY CHECKS

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office participates in the National Standardized
Child Passenger Safety Program.
The Sheriff's Office has Child Passenger Safety Technicians supervised by 1st
Sergeant John J. Rustici, who is also a Technician. The Sheriff's Office technicians
have successfully completed the Safe Kids Worldwide National Standardized Child
Passenger Safety Training.
Child passenger safety checks are made on any
Thursday by appointment at the Public Safety Facility.
To have your child's car seat installation checked, or if
you need help installing your car seat by one of our
certified CPS technicians, please call 518- 697- 0139 and
leave your information so that an appointment can be
made.
The Columbia County Public Safety Facility is located
at 85 Industrial Tract, Hudson, New York 12534.
NOTICE EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 24, 2009: Pursuant to NYS Law, all children under the age of 8 must be restrained in an appropriate child restraint system while riding in a motor vehicle.
An Appropriate child restraint system is one that meets the child's size and weight and the specifications of the manufacturer of such system.
A child restraint system may be a child safety seat, harness, vest or a booster seat.
The vehicle's safety belt alone is NOT a child restraint system.
