Copake, NY – Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. reports that Deputy Sheriffs’ and Criminal Investigators
are investigating a Criminal Mischief complaint at the new Roe-Jan Library on Route 22 in the Town of Copake.
The Sheriff’s Office was contacted after a contractor arriving to work at the building found extensive damage to the

Deputy Sheriff David Proper and Investigator Mark Dunspaugh responded and found several thousands of dollars
of damage caused to the front door after it had been shot several times with a rifle between Sunday evening and
Monday morning.  Evidence was secured at the scene and Sheriff’s Investigators are following up on leads.

Library officials along with Sheriff Harrison are asking anyone with information to call Sheriff’s Investigator Mark
Dunspaugh at the Sheriff’s Office at 828-3344.  Additionally, anyone traveling in that area should report any
suspicious vehicles or persons near the library.
