 UNDERAGE ALCOHOL SALES DETAIL IN COLUMBIA COUNTY
                                                     JUNE 30, 2010

COLUMBIA COUNTY, NY        Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. reports that Deputy Sheriff’s and two agents from
the New York State Liquor Authority conducted an underage alcohol sales detail at twenty two(22)
convenience stores in seven towns and the City of Hudson on June 19, 2010.  Of the twenty two(22) stores,
two(2) stores in the Town of Germantown and one(1) store in the City of Hudson sold beer to a 19 year old
operative.  

19 year old Kayla L Murphy of Red Hook, NY an employee of Xtra Mart and 39 year old Justine M McIntosh of
Germantown, NY an employee of Stewarts, (both stores on Rte 9G), were charged with Unlawfully Dealing
with a Child and Prohibited Sale of Alcohol.  Both are Class A Misdemeanors.  They were issued appearance
tickets to return to Germantown Court.  

In a joint operation with the Hudson Police Department the same evening, an employee of the Small Mart on
Green Street sold to a 19 year old operative.  Hirankumar P. Patal 31 of Greenport was charged by Hudson
Narcotic Officer Jason Finn and Sergeant Thomas Foutch with Unlawfully Dealing With a Child and Prohibited
Sale of Alcohol.  He was issued an appearance ticket to return to City Court.

In addition, nineteen(19) other stores, one(1) in Germantown, four(4) in the City of Hudson and fourteen(14)
other stores in the towns of Taghkanic, Livingston, Greenport, Stockport, Ghent, Claverack and the Village of
Philmont did not sell alcoholic beverage to the 19 year old operative.

The detail was led by Deputy Sheriff Wendy Guntert of the Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement and Education
Unit assisted by Deputy Sheriff’s Eli Fieser and Scott Leggett as well as the NYS Liquor Authority Agents.
