CLOTHESLINE PROJECT
April 14, 2010
On April 14, 2010, David W. Harrison, Jr. reports that the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office participated in the
Clothesline Project with The REACH Center at Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties and
Community Action of Greene County, Inc. / Columbia-Greene Domestic Violence at the Columbia County Jail. The
purpose of the project is to increase awareness of the impact of violence against women, men and children, and to
celebrate their strength to survive. The Columbia County Inmates created T-shirts with graphic messages and
illustrations in support of survivors of violence.
The inmates involved know someone who is a survivor of violence at the hands of an abuser. The T-shirts will be
presented during Crime Victims Week from April 20th thru April 29, 2010 at the Columbia-Greene Community
College. Corrections Corporal Colleen Vallee of the Sheriff’s Office and Sherri Law from the REACH Center were
instrumental in bringing this project to the Columbia County Jail.
