BODY FOUND IN HUDSON RIVER IDENTIFIED
April 9, 2010
Hudson, NY – Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. reports that after the conclusion of an autopsy
performed by Dr. Jeffrey Hubbard at St Peters Hospital on April 8th, the body located in the Hudson River
Wednesday afternoon has been identified as 48 year old Edward A. Smithrovitch of 5th Ave. Troy, NY.
The Sheriff reports that investigators from his office have been working with detectives from the Troy Police
Department and have determined that Smithrovitch is a person who was reported missing from the City of Troy
on December 26, 2009, and was last seen on December 20th, 2009 on the Troy-Waterviliet Bridge.
Sheriff’s Investigator John Rivero investigated for the Sheriff’s Office and the investigation has now been turned
over to the City of Troy Police Department.
