ENFORCEMENT DETAIL
June 5, 2009
Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. reports the arrest of eight individuals following an underage alcohol sales
check Thursday, June 4, 2009.
Arrested was Stephen D. Choinsky, 28 years old of County Route 6, Germantown, employed by Blues Stores Xtra-
Mart, Livingston; 37 year old Kimberly VanAllen of route 9 Hudson, employed by the Cumberland Farms, Columbiaville,
43 year old Gurdeep S. Kang of Carmen Road, Schenectady, NY employed by Cobble Pond Farm, Niverville, 31 year
old Xu Zhao of Edgewood Road Canton, MI employed by Spring Garden Restaurant, Greenport, 46 year old Linda
Bathrick of Brick Row, Athens, NY employed by the Rite-Aid Pharmacy, Greenport, 54 year old Mahmood A. Malik of
Michael Court, Hudson employed by the Sunoco in Germantown, NY, 24 year old Kevin S. Herber of Harry Howard
Avenue, Hudson, employed by Hess on Fairview Avenue, Greenport and 21 year old Matthew G. Liebel of Wurts
Street, Kingston, NY employed by the Stewarts in Germantown.
Each individual was charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st degree and Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic
Beverage both class A Misdemeanors.
Released with appearance tickets; Choinsky will appear in the Livingston Town Court June 25th @7pm, VanAllen will
appear in the Stockport Town Court June 22nd @7pm, Kang will appear in the Kinderhook Town Court 7pm June 23rd,
Zhao will appear in the Greenport Town Court June 8th @4pm, Bathrick and Herber are scheduled to appear in the
Greenport Court June 22nd @ 4pm, Malik and Liebel are scheduled to appear in the Germantown Town Court June
24th @ 7pm.
The eight individuals sold an alcoholic beverage to a nineteen-year-old person during the detail conducted by
members of the Sheriff’s Office Drug Education and Enforcement Unit.
A total of nineteen businesses in the towns of Germantown, Livingston, Greenport, Claverack, Taghkanic, Ghent,
Kinderhook, Valaite and Stockport were checked during the investigation.
Sheriff Harrison acknowledges the eleven other stores and individuals who did not sell to the underage person.
