STOTTVILLE MAN ARRESTED; GUNS RECOVERED
June 5, 2009
Stockport, NY – Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. reports that 18 year old Kenneth A. VanWagner, Jr.
of Sunset Blvd. Stottville, NY was arrested June 4th @ 5:10pm and charged with one count each of Burglary 2nd
degree, a class C-Felony and Grand Larceny 4th degree, a class E-Felony.
VanWagner forced his way into a residence on Cinder Road in Stottville in April of 2009 and stole long guns,
(shotguns & rifles). At least four of the stolen guns were sold by VanWagner and have been recovered by Sheriff’
s Investigators. VanWagner has made admissions about his involvement in the Burglary and sale of the stolen
guns.
Sheriffs Investigators Anthony Brahm, Mark Dunspaugh, Patrick Logue and Deputy Sheriff Scott Leggett worked
on the case. Other long guns stolen are still being sought.
Arraigned in the Stockport Town Court by Judge Harold Horner, VanWagner was remanded to the county jail
without bail and will return to town court June 8th @ 7pm.
After his arraignment by Judge Horner and while being escorted to the patrol vehicle, VanWagner struggled with
Deputy Sheriff Brian Molinski and was able break free and flee. He was caught by Deputy Sheriff Molinski after a
short foot pursuit and then taken to jail. A warrant was obtained from Judge Horner, and VanWagner will face
charges of Escape 2nd Degree, class D felony, in the near future.
Sheriff Harrison is asking for anyone that may have had dealings with VanWagner or has knowledge of the
missing guns to please contact the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Branch at 518-828-4316. The
investigation is continuing and additional charges and/or arrests are possible.
