MURDER/SUICIDE ON RABBIT LANE IN KINDERHOOK
                                                         May 28, 2009

Kinderhook, NY        Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. reports that an autopsy confirmed that both individuals found
in the residence at 101 Rabbit Lane in the Town of Kinderhook yesterday, died as a result of gunshot
wounds.  They are identified as 58 year old Timothy Conway and his wife, 50 year old Sarah Witham-
Conway, who both resided at the location.

The Autopsies were performed today by Forensic Pathologist Dr. Michael Sikirica at Albany Medical Center.
Coroner Angelo Nero and Sheriff’s Investigators Anthony Brahm and Patrick Logue were also present.

At this point in the investigation it appears that in the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 27, 2009,
Timothy Conway shot his wife with a 12 gauge shotgun and then turned the gun on himself in their bedroom,
where they were found by Deputy Sheriffs.  Both died instantly.  The gun was recovered at the scene.
Timothy Conway did leave a hand written note at the residence, as well as a voice message on a family
member’s phone asking to be forgiven, but did not give further details.  A 16 year old son and a 20 year old
daughter were not at the residence when the Murder/Suicide occurred.  There was no prior evidence of
violence between the Conways, however they were experiencing marital problems in recent weeks.  It also
appears that Timothy Conway was recently laid off from his job.

At the time of the of this release, Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Technicians, Criminal Investigators and Deputy
Sheriffs were finishing the processing of the Conway residence and property.

The investigation is continuing.
