DEPUTY SHERIFF LOUIS BRAY RECEIVES HONOR
                                                      January 27, 2009

Greenport, NY – Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. reports that Deputy Sheriff Louis Bray was
presented with a plaque and replacement tactical bullet proof vest today by Point Blank/PACA Body Armor.  The
presentation was made by Jerry St. Pierre of Point Blank/PACA, Douglas Nadoraski General Manager of Rosen’s
Uniforms, Albany, NY and Eric Hilligas sales representative from Rosen’s Uniforms.

Deputy Sheriff Bray was shot on September 8, 2008, at approximately 1:52am when members of the Sheriff’s
Office had responded to Prospect Street to execute an arrest warrant and were fired upon by 44 year Michael D’
Alessio.  Deputy Sheriff Bray had taken a position outside of D’Alessio’s house as a member of the Sheriff’s
SWAT Team and was shot when D’Alessio fired a shotgun through a window.  Bray was struck but was saved
from serious injury by his tactical bullet proof vest which is issued to SWAT members.

The vest, once having been struck by a projectile, can not be worn again.  The manufactured, Point Blank/PACA
Body Armor, has a national program which replaces the bullet proof vest if the police officer was shot while
wearing a PACA vest.  They contacted the Sheriff’s Office through Rosen’s Uniforms in Albany to ensure that
Deputy Sheriff Bray’s vest was replaced free of charge.  The vest that Bray was wearing when he was shot has a
cost of more than $1,500.

The presentation was made at the Sheriff’s Office this afternoon at 1:30pm while members of the S.W.A.T. Team,
Sheriff’s Office Command Staff and other members of the Sheriff’s Office observed.  Board of Supervisors
Deputy Chairwoman Lynda Scheer and Board of Supervisors Legal Committee Chairman Douglas McGivney also
attended the presentation.
