Stockport, NY Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. reports that today at 3:11pm, Sheriff’s Patrols were
dispatched by County 911 to NYS Rte 9 and Footbridge Rd in the Town of Stockport for the report of an accident
involving a school bus.
A bus owned by Coxsackie Transport operated by Bonnie Hendricks, 56 YOA of Catskill, NY with 15
Hudson City School students, was southbound on Rte 9 when a 2000 Chevrolet 2DR traveling northbound
crossed over into the southbound lane and struck the bus. The Bus driver attempted to avoid the collision but
was not able to.
Seven students from the school bus were transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital and the operator,
Mary Kastner, 34 YOA of Hudson, NY and only occupant of the Chevrolet, was transport to Albany Medical Center.
The Stockport Fire Company, Greenport, Valatie, Chatham, Philmont, Catskill rescue squads and
Greene County Medic as well as Columbia County EMS Coordinators were on scene. Sgt William Zincio, Deputy
Sheriff Marcus Hickey and Investigator Anthony Brahm are investigating. The accident is still being investigated at
this time.
