GHENT ACCIDENTAL HANDGUN DEATH
November 28, 2008
Ghent, NY - Columbia County Sheriff David W. Harrison, Jr. reports that at 11:36am yesterday, November 27th,
Sheriff’s Patrols were dispatched by County 911 for the call of a person injured by gunshot at 433 County Route 9
in the Town of Ghent. Deputy Sheriff’s Scott Leggett and Heath Benansky initially responded as did the Philmont
Rescue Squad.
It was found that Robert C. Taylor, 47 years old of the same address, died as a result of an accidental discharge
from a handgun. Other family members at the residence when the incident occurred were not injured.
Coroner Angelo Nero, Sheriff Harrison, Sheriff’s Investigators, the Sheriff’s Incident Scene Investigation Unit and
NYS Police from Livingston responded to the scene as well. The investigation is continuing.
