UNDERAGE ALCOHOL SALES CHECK
November 21, 2008
Columbia County, NY Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. reports the arrest of one individual following
the Sheriff’s Office continuing underage alcohol sales checks of convenient stores in Columbia County. On
November 20, 2008, Joseph E. Martin, 19 years old of Stockport and employed by the Cobble Pond Farm store
located at the intersection of route 66 and 9H in the Town of Claverack, was charged with Unlawfully Dealing with
a Child, a class A-Misdemeanor. Martin sold an alcoholic beverage to a nineteen-year-old person during the
detail conducted by members of the Sheriff’s Office Drug Education and Enforcement Unit, (DEEU). The Sheriff’s
DEEU was assisted by Investigators from the NYS Liquor Authority.
Issued an appearance ticket, Martin was directed to appear in the Claverack Town Court 6:00pm on December
19th.
A total of ten businesses in the towns of Greenport, Stockport, Kinderhook, Ghent and Claverack were checked
during the investigation.
