DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS IN SHERIFF’S OFFICE CASE

Hudson, NY – Columbia County Sheriff David W. Harrison, Jr. reports that Leroy W. Darby, 43 years old of Columbia
Street Hudson, NY was sentenced to 16 years in State Prison and 4 years of post release supervision today in Columbia
County Court by Columbia County Court Judge Jonathan Nichols.

Darby was convicted in county court on October 9th during a jury trial of: 3 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled
Substance 3rd degree and 3 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree.  Darby, who has an
extensive criminal history, had sold crack-cocaine to an undercover Deputy Sheriff in January 2008. He was arrested by
the Sheriff’s Office May 29th on a sealed indictment county court warrant.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Sheriff’s Office Drug Education and Enforcement Unit.  The
Columbia County District Attorney, Hudson Police Department and NYSP assisted in the investigation.
