DEPUTY SHERIFFS ARREST BURGLAR
June 16, 2008
Greenport, NY – Columbia County Sheriff David W. Harrison, Jr. reports that Shawn Szepessy, 23 years old of
South Front Street Hudson, was arrested Friday, June 13th and charged with four counts of Burglary 2nd degree,
class C-Felonies.
Szepessy is accused of burglarizing four residences June 10th on Mount Merino Road in the Town of Greenport.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Division and Greenport Police Department began the initial
investigation when one of the victims contacted 911. Deputy Sheriff Marcus Hickey located two of the burglaries
while walking door to door interviewing neighbors and checking homes in the area of the initial burglary while
another victim contacted the Sheriff’s Office directly.
Cash, personal property and beverages were stolen during the burglaries. Several items were recovered from the
burglaries however the cash was not.
Arrested by Deputy Sheriff Patrick Logue and Criminal Investigator Mark Dunspaugh without incident, Szepessy
was additionally charged with 1 count of Grand Larceny, a class E-Felony and three counts of Petit Larceny, a
class A - Misdemeanor.
