                        UNDERAGE ALCOHOL SALES STING
                                                          May 30, 2008

Columbia County Sheriff David W. Harrison, Jr. reports the arrest of two individuals following an underage
alcohol sales check of convenient stores on May 29, 2008.  Mohammed H. Kabir, 35 years old employed by the
Getty Mart on route 82 in the Town of Taghkanic and 19 year old C.T. Barberi employed by the X-tra Mart on
route 9G in Germantown, NY were charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child, a class A-Misdemeanor.  The two
individuals sold an alcoholic beverage to a nineteen-year-old person during the detail conducted by members of
the Sheriff’s Office Drug Education and Enforcement Unit.  

Barberi will appear in the Germantown Town Court June 11th at 7:00pm and Kabir was directed to return to the
Taghkanic Town Court June 12th @ 7:00pm.
Referrals were sent to the Alcohol, Beverage and Control Board advising them of the arrests.

A total of seventeen businesses in the towns of Germantown, Livingston, Greenport, Claverack, Taghkanic,
Ghent, Kinderhook, Chatham and Stockport were checked during the investigation.

Sheriff Harrison acknowledges the fifteen other stores and individuals who did not sell to the underage person.
